I don't think you need the mailer, because I was just asked to enter my state and I copied the promo code. I did not open the account, I will call first, because I have questions.

I have done this with them before and you can close your account after you get the bonus, they have no "you need account for 6 months" policy.

To avoid their monthly service fee's and you will get them if you just put in the $100 needed for the bonus. You need to open both their checking and Goal Savings account. You need to set it to transfer a min $25 from checking to savings every month. This waives the fee for both accounts.

So with the initial 100 + the 50 you get after at most 45 days, you can run this check+savings program and then close the account after 2 months.
